Seconds? A Sharing
Produced by Wyldwood Arts for FOD Fringe 25 - a collaboration with community members of our Seconds? Pudding Club at Sheppard House, Newent.
This project was built and developed on our past series of Pudding Clubs held during 2019.
This time around, Seconds? Pudding Club manifested as a series of 6 sessions hosted by Wyldwood Arts, working with creatives Wendy Daniels and Kate Fellows, and members of the community. The sessions were held at Sheppard House in Newent. Sheppard House, also known as Newent Association for the Disabled, is a day centre where people of all ages can come to take part in a wide range of activities, and service.
The creative baking sessions were an opportunity for the artists and participants to explore stories, and the area they live in. Exploring cake and puddings as their creative medium. Each week participants would bake something new and work towards the creation and development of a big sharing pudding.
Our Seconds? A Sharing, happened as part of the Newent Spring Fayre, hosted in our pop up space, the Wyldwood Wagon. The result was a MASSIVE fruit cake – its taste inspired by the local orchards and a family recipe of one of the participants. Decorated with icing, written on it was fragments of text and poetry and hand crafted daffodils reflecting the time of year. Wishes were stirred into the batter as it was made.
We shared the final artwork with around 120 people – each person getting to consume a piece of the cake.
