Bringing generations together

The Meeting Post was an intergenerational print publication designed for older adults and children.

It began back in 2020, when COVID-19 put a halt on all our face-to-face intergenerational projects. We knew we needed to find new ways to bring people of all ages together, and with many older people having limited access to digital tools (and children experiencing ‘digital fatigue’), we wanted to create a tangible product for people to enjoy.

Every issue we created was full of interactive, creative, dementia-friendly activities, including collaborative storytelling, poetry and art activities, a pen pal scheme, and creative reminiscence prompts, with all content informed and shaped by contributions and suggestions from readers.

It was distributed by volunteers to care homes, older people living alone, community groups and schools across Herefordshire, Bristol and the Forest of Dean.

The final issue of The Meeting Post was published in Spring 2022.

Approximately 9,000 copies were distributed between 2020 and 2022!
