FOD Fringe Sessions

FOD Fringe Sessions and commissioned sound works.

The FOD Fringe Sessions were specially commissioned for the FOD FRINGE 25 and played on Dean Radio, a community radio station for the Forest of Dean, during the month of March. This meant that part of the FOD Fringe programme could be enjoyed from home, and accessible to all. The FOD Fringe Sessions are still available as downloads so you can listen again in your own time.

They are an eclectic mix of music, chat, creative pieces and wellbeing initiatives based around building community bonds - the theme of FOD Fringe 25. They aired on Dean Radio throughout March 2025.

Commissioned by Wyldwood Arts and curated and produced by local mixed media creator Gail SE, the series showcases local creatives, explores community wellbeing, gives the listener the opportunity to interact with the art and benefits of being 'silly' and lists the FOD Fringe events happening during the week ahead!

Non-offensive content, but aimed at adults.

COMMISSIONED WORKS

SPINSTA Amy and Jess - Featuring in Episode 1 & 2.

Song recordings and chat with Spinsta who play moody acapella trad folk with the occasional twist!. Interviewed and recorded by Gail SE Art.

GRATIA by Chez Dunford - Featuring in Episode 2.

Gratia - an original short radio play inspired by the Dean Heritage Centre's Oral History Archive with transcripts provided by Owen Adams in response to research on mutual aid and self-sufficiency when it came to food during times of great poverty in the 1920s and 1930s.

A note from Chez "It is such a privilege to have access to real interviews that capture moments in history so personally. To be able to translate these stories to modern relevance is forever pertinent as we continue to strive for food security and safe farming practices. I've had a deep process in reading these interviews and greeting each of the 10 interviewees with respect and honour so as to weave into a one person monologue suitable for a short radio play".

COMMUNITY IN NATURE by Wilde Earth Journeys inspired by Forest Sensory Services - Featuring in Episode 3.

Close your eyes and take a breath. Feel the earth beneath your feet, the sun on your skin, the wind weaving through the trees. This is where we come together—not just as individuals, but as a community in nature.

Here, voices blend with birdsong, laughter ripples like water, and footsteps find rhythm with the heartbeat of the land. It’s a place where connection grows—between people, between the wild, between the past and the future.

Join us for a moment of harmony, where human and nature exist as one.
