A Night at the Bardic Arms

  • The Tufthorn Inn Station Road Coleford, England, GL16 8PZ United Kingdom (map)

It’s night time and a storm is raging, the little streets run with rain, trees whip back and fore in the gales. Every door is shut against the elements except for the olde-worlde Bardic Arms pub with its one beer, Wretched Wench.

The landlady, a homesick Welshie, chats with the embittered bar-girl and three locals; a retired, shady psychiatrist and his drinking companion, an old sailor, and in the corner, anticipating a date, the village’s old romantic, a timeworn army captain.

Suddenly the doors blows open on a stranger looking for a mechanic and a stiff drink…

Written by Poets in Progress (PIPs) and performed by actors, a Night at The Bardic Arms is a prose-poetry piece on the theme of relationship and the flawed nature of human beings.
