100 Years of Lydbrook Band
This year Lydbrook Band are partnering with Wyldwood Arts as part of the band’s centenary celebrations. Together we will create a celebratory musical performance and storytelling event that brings the past, present & future to life.
The performance, entitled ‘A Forest Symphony,’ will feature a piece of brass music of the same name, by former Lydbrook Band member & well-known composer, Gavin Higgins. Both the main & training bands will perform alongside community groups from across the Forest of Dean.
Part of the performance will be an audio collage featuring band members’ voices of and those who have supported the band over the years.
This is where you come in!
Below are some questions about the band and music, and we would hugely appreciate if you could take a few minutes to answer them and record yourself speaking your responses.
You can use anything to record your answers - a smartphone, microphone, dictaphone or even a tape recorder! You can also record directly into a Whats App and send us your responses that way.
If you are keen to answer the questions but are finding the technical part tricky, then get in touch and we can work together to record your thoughts.
The questions are only a starting point to inspire your memories and recollections so feel free to go off on tangents, run your answers together and describe stories or moments from the past. It's also okay if other sounds happen in the background as this can be edited out.
Once we have the recordings, the creative team will find bits that work together and edit the recorded voices to make short chapters that tell the important story of the incredible impact the Band has had on the community, and how they remain vital today.
Here are the questions we’d like to hear your responses to:
